Dollars for Sense
In an interview published on the TV Guide website, Michael Ausiello reported that Jorja Fox, CSI's Sara Sidle, will be leaving the show in November. Jorja Fox neither confirmed nor denied Ausiello's assertion; however, other entertainment media outlets such as E! and Entertainment Weekly are also now reporting that Jorja Fox will make her exit from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in the November 8, 2007 episode of CSI entitled Goodbye and Hello (now named Goodbye and Good Luck).
In response to her widely reported exit from CSI, the cause of which seems to be a failure on the part of the producers and Fox to reach a contract agreement, "Dollars for Sense" was started by fans of Jorja Fox in an effort to keep her on CSI. The campaign began at www.yourtaxdollarsatwork.org, and involves fans printing off flyers and sending the flyer and a dollar bill (or your equivalent local currency) to the producers and writers of CSI to show them how much Jorja Fox, and the character she portrays, Sara Sidle, are loved.
However after Jorja's interview to EW in which she confirmed it is her decision to exit the show the campaign was toned down and the decision made to send the money collected to charity.
Collected Money Being Donated to CASA
Jorja Fox and CSI producer Carol Mendelsohn have informed the campaign they wish the money collected be donated to CASA. There is no better way to honor the character of Sara Sidle (who came through foster care herself), than to be able to assist CASA in providing a voice to children who cannot speak for themselves. There are a lot of challenges that come with being a part of the foster care system, but none is greater than advocating for the child. Unfortunatly the court system often relegates the children to the background in favor of preserving parental rights.
Which is where CASA volunteers come in. They provide a voice for foster children in court, where decisions are being made about their future. CASAs give faces to the names listed in court documents. CASA volunteers spend time with the children involved in the cases, they listen to the foster parents, and they advocate in court for what is best for the child. For more information about CASA, visit their website.
We're still taking donations for this worthy cause. When we reach our target of $5000 it will be donated to CASA on behalf of yourtaxdollarsatwork.org in honor of Jorja Fox. If you'd like to donate to this worthy cause, you can do so by clicking the button below.
CASA is also where the money sent with the flyers will be donated.
